Pathways and KS4 Curriculum

Pathways and KS4 Curriculum

Just before Easter in year 9, students are taken through the options process.  Each student’s pathway is carefully chosen, offering every student a wide range of subjects to select from.

The core subjects are:

English Language and English Literature

Mathematics

Combined Science

All students study either RE or Citizenship.

A small selection of students are offered the opportunity to study all three sciences to GCSE.  These students must themselves demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for science, which will show in their effort and achievement in Science.

We aim for all students to follow the Ebacc pathway where students study the core subjects, a language and a humanity.

For those students for whom studying both a language and a humanity is overwhelming, these students will study a course that contains non-examined assessment from year 9 onwards (Creative iMedia, Photography, Music Practice or Graphics).  Parents will receive a letter regarding this at the end of year 8.
