Saltley Academy KS3 Cricket Team Crowned County Champions

We are thrilled to announce that the KS3 cricket team has triumphed in the County Cup, defeating Prince Thorpe Independent College in a thrilling final. This victory marks a significant achievement for our young athletes, showcasing their resilience and skill on the cricket field.
The final match saw a challenging start for our team, with Prince Thorpe setting a formidable score of 100 runs in just 10 overs. However, demonstrating true Saltley spirit, our bowlers applied relentless pressure, ultimately bowling Prince Thorpe out for 129.
When it was Saltley’s turn to bat, the situation was tense. After 10 overs, we were at 36 runs with two wickets down, needing 94 runs off 60 balls to secure victory. The pressure was immense, but our next two batters rose to the occasion, delivering an extraordinary performance. They scored 94 runs off 36 balls, turning the game in our favour.
Saltley Academy finished on 130-2 after 16 overs, officially earning the title of county champions. This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players and coaches throughout the tournament.

- Round 1: Finham Park
- Quarter Final: Washwood Heath
- Semi Final: King Edwards Handsworth
- Final: Prince Thorpe Independent College
