GCSE Results 2022
Saltley students and staff have been celebrating some excellent GCSE results this week with a very pleasing range of higher grades achieved. Despite having faced the challenges of the Covid pandemic, home learning and the significant amount of disruption to their learning, these pupils have worked extremely hard and achieved grades that fully reflect their excellent attitude and motivation.
Among Saltley’s top students are Nusrat Puspa who achieved Grade 9 in 7 subjects, along with 2 grade 8s, a grade 6 and a Merit (Nusrat will be attending sixth form at King Edwards VIth School Handsworth), Imaan Abdullah who achieved grade 9 in 4 subjects, grade 8 in 3 subjects, 2 grade 7s and a Merit (and will be attending Solihull Sixth Form College), and Ibrahim Khan who achieved a grade 9 in 3 subjects, along with 5 grade 8s, a grade 7 and a Merit (and will be attending King Edwards VIth Aston School).
Ruqia Bibi Gul achieved grade 9 in 4 subjects along with 2 grade 8s, 3 grade 7s and a Merit and will now be attending the prestigious boarding school, Rendcomb College in Gloucestershire. Yousuf Abbassi will be attending the equally prestigious Wellington College in Berkshire, having achieved 4 grade 8s, 4 grade 7s a grade 6 and a Merit. Both pupils have shown outstanding aspiration, tenacity and courage to put themselves forward for the Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation’s selection programme. We wish them every success in this next amazing adventure in their lives and are sure they will make the best of all the opportunities that will come their way.
Other members of the Saltley ‘Top 10’ include Uzman Azib (Head boy, attending Aston University Sixth Form), Subhaan Tahir, Alisha Fatima, Amjad Alkassam and Samiul Chowdhury (also attending Aston University Sixth Form) who amassed an amazing 7 grade 9s, 15 grade 8s and 13 grade 7s between them!
While it is lovely to be able to celebrate these individual achievements, we must also praise and congratulate all of the pupils who have done themselves proud with their results and their efforts to maintain their resilience through such challenging times. Well done everyone!
