Our Form Time Curriculum
At Saltley Academy, our pupils follow a bespoke form time curriculum designed to complement the academic curriculum and deliver our seven key areas of personal development. This programme helps students broaden their understanding of global issues, prepare for the challenges of growing up, and develop as responsible global citizens.
Literacy runs as a central thread throughout the curriculum, with a strong focus on reading, oracy, and writing in a variety of styles.

Our aim is to ensure that every student develops academically, socially, and personally, leaving Saltley Academy as confident, articulate individuals ready to thrive in life beyond school.
Our seven key areas of the Personal Development Curriculum are as follows:
British Values (RRSA Article 2)

Media Literacy (RRSA Article 17)
Develops critical thinking about media and online content. Students learn to identify bias, misinformation, and the influence of social media, while understanding how to use digital platforms safely and responsibly.
Personal Health, Social Education (RRSA Article 12)
Covers physical and mental health, emotional well-being, and social skills. Pupils learn strategies for resilience, healthy lifestyles, and making informed choices about their personal development and relationships.
Ready To Work (RRSA Article 32) (Gatsby Benchmarks 2, 3, 4)
