Geography

Geography serves vital educational goals. Many contemporary challenges – climate change, poverty and inequality, energy choices – cannot be understood without a geographical perspective.

Our geography curriculum has been designed to allow students to explore a wide range of human and physical geography topics and to equip them with vital geographical skills creating resilient, creative and critical thinkers. The curriculum assists in inspiring a curiosity and fascination of the world focused around location, place, human and physical processes and key geographical skills.

At KS3, students have opportunities for local fieldwork, whilst at GCSE level, our students undertake two fieldwork trips, giving them the opportunity to understand how the geographical concepts they have learnt in the classroom can be seen in their local area. We aim to encourage our students to think critically about global issues, to help them become global citizens with a keen awareness of the geography around them.
