Spanish Learning Journey

Communication skills and being able to speak a different language is a vital skill in our current globalised world. Here at the Saltley Academy Spanish department we inspire students to develop linguistic skills and cultural knowledge that promotes tolerance and compassion for others.

Our high quality language teaching fosters student’s curiosity, resilience, empathy and deepens their understanding of the world. The sequence of learning builds upon and revisits vocabulary and grammar acquisition over a five-year journey through a range of topics at KS3 and themes at KS4 within the four assessed skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

In addition, lessons incorporate opportunities for students to develop cultural capital through authentic material from the Hispanic world. Essentially, we prepare our learners to become linguists, equipping them to further study and work and to be able to communicate confidently in their future careers.
